Ingredients
Chinese Five Spice Chicken
- 4 chicken Maryland's
Marinade
- 1/4 cup light soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons dark soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon white pepper
- 1 teaspoon Chinese five spice
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon mirin
- 1 tablespoon fresh garlic - crushed
- 1 tablespoon sugar
Basting Sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon cooking oil
- Leftover sauce from chicken marinade
- 1 tablespoon water
Method
Chinese Five Spice Chicken
- Whisk all the marinade ingredients together. Add in the chicken and marinate over night.
- Preheat the oven to 180oC (160oC fan bake). Line a roasting dish with baking paper and top with a baking rack.
- Place the chicken onto the rack and cook for 30 minutes.
- In a small saucepan, add in all the basting sauce ingredients and simmer for 2 minutes.
- Baste the chicken with the sauce.
- Place the chicken back into the oven for a further 30 minutes or until cooked through.
