Crispy Fried Onions
- 2 onions - thinly sliced
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk - substitute 1 1/2 cups milk with 2 tablespoons lemon juice added
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons garlic salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Canola oil for frying
Method
Crispy Fried Onions
- Place the onions in the buttermilk for at least one hour.
- Combine the dry ingredients in a medium bowl.
- Heat about 1/4 cup oil to a high temperature in a wok or frying pan.
- Grab a handful of onions, throw into the flour mixture, shake off any excess and fry until golden brown.
- Repeat until all the onions are used.
