Welcome to the June edition of The Tangleby Recipe, Garden and Kids' Club.
This month I have recipes from all over the world to inspire your winter cooking. I hope you try a lot of them as they will not disappoint.
We had the book launch for Tangleby Everyday II at North Canterbury Books, which was a lot of fun, and it is always nice to meet those of you who have made so many of my recipes.
Ballantynes, in Christchurch have asked me to host a 'Books and Bubbles' event again. This time I will supply lots of lovely food samples and my talk will be 'Tips and Techniques for the Home Chef'. I have learnt so much myself in the past 4 years that it is a shame not to pass on all the valuable information that I have gained within this new career. I will let you know when we have the date and time confirmed.
I had one of our members reach out to me recently regarding freezing meals for her son and daughter-in-law who are expecting their first baby. I have written an article on this as it was a very hard time in my life when I had my first baby. I had no help or support from my husband; in fact, he requested breakfast in bed every morning and did absolutely nothing around the house. I was pregnant again within a short time of delivering my first baby and I was so run down that my dear wee Emma was disabled with spina bifida and didn't survive. This is why I am so passionate about this. 'A first time mum needs to be mothered'.
Well off into winter we go. Not my favourite time of the year but it is a great time to invite family and friends over for dinner just to make sure everyone is going well throughout the cold and sometimes miserable days ahead.
Happy cooking, gardening, crafting and being the best person, you can be! Keep warm.
