Welcome to the September edition of the Tangleby Recipe, Garden and Kids Club.
The standout recipes for me this month are the blood orange and five spice chicken. Blood oranges are available in supermarkets at the moment. This is an easy and very flavourful recipe. The chicken cordon bleu crepes are fantastic also. Crepes are so much easier to make than you may think.
The passionfruit cheesecake bars are wonderful too. Most supermarkets are stocking frozen passionfruit now. I made this slice for a function at Ballantynes, and it disappeared very quickly.
My most exciting news this month is that I am partnering with Bayley's Real Estate in Canterbury to produce a cookbook for their charity, Plate Up For A Purpose. This charity is in conjunction with the Salvation Army. All the funds go to helping kids start the school year with uniforms, shoes and school supplies. To date they have raised $675,000 since the charity started in 2019.
In the articles this month I have 'The Toddler Must Do List'. This is full of fun stuff for the little people in your life. After writing this I am off to the Christchurch Antarctic Centre with two of my grandchildren - very excited!
We have a lot of members coming to the book launch in October. The forward copies of 'Tangleby Gardens Beautiful Baking' have arrived and they look amazing. We can't wait to share them with you.
Happy cooking, gardening, crafting and being the best person, you can be!
