Mrs. Winterbottom's Chocolate Cake
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 3/4 cup cocoa
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 3/4 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup milk
Method
Mrs. Winterbottom's Chocolate Cake
- Preheat oven to 180oC (160oC fan bake). Line an 18cm x 28cm cake tin with baking paper.
- In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt.
- In a separate bowl beat together the oil, sugar, vanilla, and eggs. Then beat in the milk.
- Carefully beat half the wet mixture into the dry mixture, then repeat with the remaining half.
- Pour the chocolate mixture into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
- Leave to cool completely, then ice with chocolate frosting.
