For the Skye’s Birdseed Bar
- 50g butter
- 1/2 cup raw sugar
- 1/4 cup golden syrup or honey
- 3/4 cup pumpkin seeds
- 3/4 cup sunflower seeds
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 1 Weet-Bix — crushed
- 3/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup self-rising flour
- 1/2 cup cranberries or chopped apricots
Method
For the Skye’s Birdseed Bar
- Pre heat the oven to 170°C (150°C fan bake). Line a 20cm square pan with baking paper.
- Place the butter, sugar and syrup or honey in a medium saucepan. Stir over a moderate heat until the sugar dissolves.
- Cool for 5 minutes.
- Add all other ingredients and mix well.
- Press the mixture evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until golden and cooked
through.
- Cut the slice while still warm.
