Skye’s Birdseed Bar

For the Skye’s Birdseed Bar

  • 50g butter
  • 1/2 cup raw sugar
  • 1/4 cup golden syrup or honey
  • 3/4 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 3/4 cup sunflower seeds
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 1 Weet-Bix — crushed
  • 3/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup self-rising flour
  • 1/2 cup cranberries or chopped apricots


For the Skye’s Birdseed Bar

  • Pre heat the oven to 170°C (150°C fan bake). Line a 20cm square pan with baking paper.
  • Place the butter, sugar and syrup or honey in a medium saucepan. Stir over a moderate heat until the sugar dissolves.
  • Cool for 5 minutes.
  • Add all other ingredients and mix well.
  • Press the mixture evenly into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until golden and cooked through.
  • Cut the slice while still warm.
