This is my trial apple crumble for our soon to be launched online kids club. It was so good that I wanted to share it with you.

Ingredients
For the cake
- 5 apples - peeled, cored, and diced
- 1 & 1/2 cups of water
- 1/2 cup of caster sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon each: cinnamon, nutmeg
- 1 & 1/3 cups rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup flour
- 120g butter - finely diced
- Cream or ice cream for serving
Method
Apple preparation
- Place the apples, water, caster sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon and nutmeg in a pot and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5-8 minutes or until just soft. Drain off any excess liquid
- Tip the cooked apple into a pie dish
- Preheat oven to 180oC (160cC fan bake)
To make the crumble
- Place the oats, brown sugar, flour and butter into a bowl
- Use your fingers to break up the lumps of butter until crumbs form
- Sprinkle the crumble over the apples and cook for 35-40 minutes or until the crumble is golden brown
- Serve with ice cream or cream
