This wonderfully easy recipe takes the humble cabbage from drab to simply delightful.
Ingredients
For the cabbage wedges with creamy horseradish sauce
- 1 medium cabbage
- Garlic salt and ground black pepper, to taste
- 1½ cups cream
- ¼ cup horseradish cream
- ⅓ cup white wine
- 2 tablespoons butter
Method
For the cabbage wedges with creamy horseradish sauce
- Preheat the oven to 190°C (170°C fan bake).
- Remove some of the outer leaves of the cabbage and arrange them like a nest in a stovetop-safe casserole dish.
- Cut the remaining cabbage into 8 wedges and arrange in the casserole dish, pointed edge upwards. Sprinkle with garlic salt and pepper.
- Whisk together the cream, horseradish and wine and pour over the cabbage.
- Dot the butter over the cabbage.
- Cover and cook on the stovetop over a high heat for 5 minutes.
- Uncover and spoon the sauce over the cabbage.
- Transfer to the oven and bake for 35–40 minutes until the cabbage is tender.
