The addition of honey gives this bread a delicious depth of flavour. 



For the honey beer bread

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 340ml beer
  • 1⁄4 cup honey — slightly warmed so it is liquid
  • 50g butter — melted


For the honey beer bread

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan bake).
  • Whisk the flour, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  • Slowly add the beer and honey and stir until combined.
  • Brush half the melted butter around the inside of a 21 x 10cm loaf tin.
  • Add the bread mixture and spread evenly.
  • Brush the remaining melted butter over the top.
  • Bake for 40–50 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
  • Leave to cool for 10 minutes before removing from the tin.
