PRINT RECIPE

Ingredients

For the honey orange garlic chicken

  • 1 whole chicken
  • 6 cloves garlic — crushed
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons cornflour
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Orange wedges, to serve

Method

For the honey orange garlic chicken

  • To marinate the chicken, whisk together the garlic, honey, juice and soy sauce.
  • Transfer the marinade to a snap-lock bag, add the chicken and turn to coat well. Refrigerate overnight.
  • Place foil balls in the base of the slow cooker (this stops the chicken going soggy). Place the chicken on top, breast-side down.
  • Pour in the marinade and cook on low for 9 hours.
  • Transfer the chicken to a serving platter and keep warm while you finish the sauce.
  • Transfer the marinade to a saucepan and bring to a simmer. Mix the cornflour and water to make a slurry. Add to the saucepan and simmer, stirring, until slightly thickened.
  • To serve, carve the chicken and arrange on a serving platter. Top with the sauce and serve with orange wedges.
