These are so easy to make as a treat for the whole family.
Ingredients
For the individual maple banana trifles
- ½ cup cream
- ½ teaspoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 15cm square fresh sponge — cut into small cubes
- Maple syrup, for drizzling
- 4 bananas — cut into 5mm slices
- 600g store-bought custard
- 25g slivered almonds — toasted, to garnish
- Edible flowers and herbs, to garnish (optional)
Method
For the individual maple banana trifles
- Whip the cream, sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form. Set aside.
- Divide half the sponge cubes between 4 serving glasses.
- Drizzle each with a little maple syrup.
- Divide half the banana slices between the glasses.
- Top with half the custard.
- Repeat the sponge, maple syrup, banana and custard layers with the remaining ingredients.
- Top with a dollop of whipped cream and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
- Serve garnished with slivered almonds and flowers and herbs, if desired.
