Individual maple banana trifles

These are so easy to make as a treat for the whole family.



For the individual maple banana trifles

  • ½ cup cream
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 15cm square fresh sponge — cut into small cubes
  • Maple syrup, for drizzling
  • 4 bananas — cut into 5mm slices
  • 600g store-bought custard
  • 25g slivered almonds — toasted, to garnish
  • Edible flowers and herbs, to garnish (optional)


For the individual maple banana trifles

  • Whip the cream, sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form. Set aside.
  • Divide half the sponge cubes between 4 serving glasses.
  • Drizzle each with a little maple syrup.
  • Divide half the banana slices between the glasses.
  • Top with half the custard.
  • Repeat the sponge, maple syrup, banana and custard layers with the remaining ingredients.
  • Top with a dollop of whipped cream and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
  • Serve garnished with slivered almonds and flowers and herbs, if desired.
