For a main meal for four, double the quantities and serve with the leftover coleslaw mix and rice.
Ingredients
For the saucy sesame pork meatballs
- 250g pork mince
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1⁄2 cup finely chopped coleslaw mix
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon finely diced red onion
- 2 cloves garlic — crushed
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- Toasted sesame seeds, to garnish
- Chopped fresh chives or spring onions, to garnish
For the SESAME HOISIN SAUCE
- 1⁄3 cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 clove garlic — crushed
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground ginger
Method
For the saucy sesame pork meatballs
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan bake). Line a roasting dish with baking paper.
- To make the meatballs, mix all the ingredients except the garnishes.
- Roll into about 14 bite-size meatballs.
- Place in the prepared dish and bake for 12–15 minutes.
- To make the Sesame Hoisin Sauce, mix all the ingredients in a small saucepan. Gently heat to warm through.
- Transfer the cooked meatballs to a serving platter or bowl. Drizzle with the sauce and sprinkle with the sesame seeds and chives or spring onions to serve.
