Ingredients

For the slow-cooker mulled wine

  • 2 x 750ml bottles red wine
  • 100ml Cointreau
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 3 star anise
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • Zest of 2 oranges — peeled with a vegetable peeler
  • Zest of 1 lemon — peeled with a vegetable peeler
  • Juice of 2 oranges
  • Orange slices, to serve

Method

For the slow-cooker mulled wine

  • Put all the ingredients except the orange slices in a slow cooker.
  • Cook on low for 1½–2 hours until hot.
  • Leave the slow cooker on ‘keep warm’ setting.
  • Ladle into heatproof glasses and serve with a slice of orange.
