Ingredients
Deviled Sausages
- 8 pork sausages
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil
- 1 onion - diced
- 1 apple - peeled, cored and sliced
- 2 cloves garlic - crushed
- 400g can diced tomatoes
- 1 cup beef stock
- 1/4 cup tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup barbeque sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- Garlic salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Pinch cayenne (optional but recommended)
- 1 tablespoon cornflour mixed with water to thicken the sauce if needed
Method
Devilled Sausages
- Heat the oil in a large frying pan over a medium heat. Brown the sausages on all sides - set aside.
- To the same pan, add the onion and cook for several minutes. Add in the apple and cook for an additional two minutes. Stir through the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add in all the other ingredients, including the sausages and simmer for 5 minutes.
- If the sauce needs thickening, add in the cornflour slurry and simmer until thickened.
