Guinness & Treacle 10 minute Bread

  • 250g flour
  • 200g wholemeal flour
  • 50g rolled oats - plus extra for topping
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons each: salt, baking soda
  • 285g buttermilk - or add 1 tablespoon lemon juice to 285ml milk and leave for 5 minutes.
  • 125ml Guinness or other stout
  • 50g treacle

Method

Guinness & Treacle 10 Minute Bread

  • Preheat oven to 180oC (160oC fan bake). Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  • To a mixer with a dough hook mix the dry ingredients together.
  • Add in the buttermilk. Whisk the Guinness with the treacle and add in.
  • Mix for 3 minutes.
  • Roll the dough out onto a floured surface and shape into a ball and place on the prepared tray.
  • Cut a cross well through the dough. Sprinkle with some extra rolled oats.
  • Bake for 35 - 40 minutes or until golden.
