Ingredients

Jin Dou Pork

  • 750g pork fillet - cut into 1/2 cm slices
  • 1/4 cup cooking oil

Marinade

  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon each: cornflour, oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon each: sugar, salt, sesame oil
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons water

Sauce

  • 1/3 cup each: tomato sauce, plum sauce
  • 3 tablespoons each: balsamic vinegar, sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon 5-spice
  • 100ml water
  • Rice for serving

Method

Jin Dou Pork

  • Whisk all the marinade ingredients together and marinate the pork for at least 3 hours.
  • In a small saucepan, whisk all the sauce ingredients together and simmer for 4 minutes - set aside.
  • In a large frying pan or wok, heat the oil over a high heat.
  • Brown the pork in batches for 2 - 3 minutes each side - set aside.
  • Tip out any remaining oil from the frying pan or wok.
  • Over a medium heat, add the pork back in the sauce and simmer for 1 minute until the pork is warmed through.
  • Serve with rice.
