Welcome to the March edition of The Tangleby recipe, Garden and Kids' Club.
As I mentioned last month I would give you an update on my health journey in the past month. All I can say is "wow, wow, wow'. I have never felt so good and had so much energy. This new regime has certainly worked. Have a look at last month's introduction to see what extra goodies I have been adding into my daily routine.
I have added in a section on short moral stories for kids/grandkids. This is lovely reading for you to share with your little people. I try to add in as many good values and morals as I can into the 'Tails of Tangleby Gardens' series.
After a dear friend of mine had her colours done, I have become more conscious of what colours suit me and what ones done. After a visit to Spotlight, I have a wonderful dressmaker making me a beautiful winter wardrobe. The colours this season certainly suit my colours being forest green, burgundy, cobalt blue, rich teal, espresso and purple. There is an article on the fashion trends for autumn and winter. Don't be shy to express yourself instead of blending into the crowd. You will fell absolutely fabulous for treating yourself to some special new pieces as the weather starts to turn and leaves begin to fall.
I am sure you have picked up that I am a big fan of slow cooking. It means you can use cheaper cuts of meat and the depth of flavour you achieve with slow cooking is second to none. The lamb, red wine and mushroom casserole in this month's recipes is a great example of this. Make a double batch and bake the left over in a pie with a pastry bottom and a potato mash top. To liven up your mash, boil half potato and half kumara. This gives you a beautiful earthy and sweet flavour.
All Club members are eligible for free tickets to the annual Tangleby Gardens Easter Egg Hunt. This year we have ramped it up to include a sausage sizzle with salads, an ice cream station and a huge bouncy castle. If you can't make it, you can gift the entry to family or friends. You just need to let us know the numbers attending.
Well into autumn we go -
Happy cooking, gardening, crafting and being the best person, you can be!
